Ignorance is described as drunkenness or blindness according to the ancient Gnostics.

Drunkenness because we enjoy the world of Sophia (the objects) and we are not concerned about what God is.

Blindness because we only see things from our point of view, and we do not realize that everything is God and not, at the same time.

Gnosis is a simple and yet profound realization of the source of Sophia. Gnosis is the realization of what the mind is and what consciousness is, as they are completely different.
