So recently, I have seen a few a posts on Medium asserting that spiritually viewing your thoughts is not good for you in your life.
I talked before about discernment, nous. Spirituality doesn’t override your understanding in your work a day-to-day life. Your practical life is valid and a reality ( a realm), not something to be overridden with pie-in-the-sky ideas. Yes, the practical world is affirmed in the mystical kabbalah and non-dualism's soul path. The 3 phases of awareness include the everyday world. Yes, so the writer is correct in saying that our practical thoughts and worldly experiences are an important part of our ego or shadow self. Yes, we need our ego and shadow self to be here. Our ordinary life is important. The Buddha taught there is no separate self, and to apply that to our life will be catastrophic for you. You need to learn to compartmentalize your waking, dreaming, and dreamless awareness. You can’t mix dualism and non-dualism. You have to separate them. Yes, there is a spoke in the wheel of mind that allows the waking and dreaming to be experienced together, but it takes time to realize that fast-spinning spoke. Right now, we need to chop wood and carry water. Western science is stuck in the practical world and can’t go beyond. So use science for the practical world, spirituality for your dreaming, and Gnosis for your dreamless sleep. Yes, your thoughts are valid here, but they also pass into the dreaming and beyond. Yes, so psychology and science are good for you here. Go with it. Remember, scientists and psychologists know nothing of spirituality. It’s beyond them, but they can help you in your ordinary life. Non-dualism teaches there is one soul only but the egos are there in the practical world. Questions, pls comment below.
